Latest update
After more than two years of consultation the William Hunter Way development has been given the go ahead by Council Planners and the current council owned car park situated on William Hunter Way, just off the High Street, will be transformed into a new leisure and retail destination.
The schemes master plan incorporates a six screen cinema seating 1,180, over 38,000 sq ft of retail space in two 2 storey units, a new food store, a smaller retail unit, 14 residential apartments and a 654 space multi storey car park.
The plans also include the redevelopment of 73-73a High Street to create a pedestrian link between the High Street and William Hunter way together with two new commercial units and four residential units.
The scheme already has the commitment of the largest UK independent cinema operator Apollo and discussions are taking place with a number of major retailers and food operators to secure tenants for the retail space.
As the development progresses Stockland will continue to work closely with the Council and local residents, and updates will be available on this website.
